Public Space Recycling

Public spaces recycling is a key component of enhancing collection and processing by optimizing operations, and an important component of best practices for program funding.

CIF has been working to identify a set of best practices applicable to open space recycling programs. Public spaces best practices include:

• providing clear and consistent signage;
• appropriately placing recycling and residue bins;
• communicating effectively with park staff, vendors and collection crews; and
• designing appropriate recycling bins for public spaces.
