In December, 2004, the Minister of the Environment requested that Waste Diversion Ontario (WDO) prepare a consultation plan to support development of a diversion program for Waste Electrical & Electronics Equipment (WEEE).

The WDO Board of Directors approved the consultation plan, developed in cooperation with a WEEE Working Group with representation from stewards and stakeholders, on April 20, 2005 and forwarded the plan to the Minister.

On June 12, 2007, the Minister, in her Final Program Request Letter for a WEEE program, directed WDO to revise the consultation plan to reflect the Final Program Request Letter.
